What: Independence Day (Araw ng Kalayaan) is an annual national day observed to commemorate the Philippine Declaration of Independence from Spain on June 12, 1898.
Pista is a moment when communities come together in gratitude for another year.  Pista as a “cultural anchor,” helps the Filipinos renew their identity and sense of belonging -- belonging to a home and familial village in the Philippines; to an adopted home -- the Inland Empire in the U.S.
